Stuart Rennie, left, receiving the award from Andy Brown of Toro
Stuart Rennie, the winner of the 2009 TORO Student Golf Course Architect Award, was presented with his trophy during the World Forum of Golf Architects in St Andrews.
Presenting the award on behalf of TORO, Corporate Accounts Manager Andy Brown said, “Toro is once again very proud to support the EIGCA Student Golf Course Architect Award for 2009. This is an important award that recognizes exceptional talent and application and this year that is no exception. Stuart has shown that he has a real grasp of the complexities of golf course design and that he understands the challenges that have to be addressed for a golf club or new development to be successful. We wish Stuart every success and we look forward to seeing his career progress over the coming years.”
Stuart, who passed the 2007-09 EIGCA Professional Diploma in Golf Course Design with Distinction, works in Edinburgh for Keppie Design, a multi-disciplinary architectural design practice. He commented “It was an honour and a pleasure to receive the Toro Award at the ‘World Forum’ Gala Dinner in St Andrews the home of golf. To receive the award in front of so many influential and accomplished people within the golf architectural industry from across the globe was extra special. The ‘World Forum’ gave the opportunity for golf architects to come from far and wide to discuss a variety of hot topics; it was a fantastic and privileged experience to be part of.
Toro were a fantastic host when visiting America earlier this year where I was delighted to be able to experience golf in Florida and the Golf Industry Show in San Diego with Bruce Jamieson. The trip was an experience which will never be forgotten and the sponsorship by Toro was greatly appreciated by the EIGCA and myself. Toro’s representatives could not have been more helpful and I would like to thank Andy Brown for his kind words during the award presentation.
Although we as graduates are moving into the industry at a fairly difficult time I would like to take the opportunity to wish my fellow graduates the best of success with their careers.”
