Sustainable Golf Development
The preparation of a detailed framework document outlining practical guidance on how new golf development can be more sustainable was identified as the first priority in our Policy Statement. The work is being undertaken in partnership with GEO, with our Environment Convenor, Mike Wood, leading the consultancy team. The project aims are:
- To improve standards in land use planning and zoning for golf development;
- To help development control officials make more informed decisions;
- Better integration of environmental and social issues in golf development proposals;
- To support golf developers and architects in creatively designing courses that are enjoyable and fun to play;
- To facilitate collaboration with the environmental, government and scientific communities.
