Giacomo Cabrini 1936 - 2009

In Memoriam

Giacomo Cabrini

Giacomo Cabrini, an Associate Member of EIGCA, passed away on 11 February 2009 in Vincenza. Giacomo was born in Milan on 11-8-1936. He had been a golfer since his youth and dedicated almost all his life to this sport. He graduated in agricultural engineering, working mainly in Italy.

From 1990 he worked with Harradine Golf Ag. Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and Peter Harradine said,

“Giacomo was a very jolly fellow and a great story teller. His jokes were delivered with great vigour in his native Venetian dialect and with all the appropriate gesticulations.

He was great fun with a keen eye for the ladies and greatly enjoyed the good life, wine and pasta. As with everything else he pursued, he was extremely passionate about his work and was an early and convinced pioneer in eco-friendly solutions for golf course construction and maintenance. He was often misunderstood due to the fact that he used to declare his sometimes controversial opinions in a stubborn, emotional, and very animated manner without allowing any contradictions whatsoever.

Giacomo will be painfully missed by all the people who worked with him and especially his family and many friends.”
