A golfer since 1967, Svein started his working career as a Building Architect in 1983. A partner in a well-known Norwegian architect firm, Leiv Nes Arkitekter AS, from 1990, Svein has designed houses, office buildings, hospitals and land plans.
His first golf course project was in 1993, and from that year until 2008, he divided his time between designing buildings and golf courses. Most of his golf projects have been in Norway, but he also has worked abroad, like Brazil and Portugal.
Svein left Leiv Nes Arkitekter AS in 2008, starting his small golf course architect firm, Svein D Olsnes : Arkitekt, to concentrate full time on golf course architecture.
Having handled many big projects, Svein knows that success depends on good planning. As a devoted student of the golf courses of the Golden Age of Golf Course Architecture, Svein believes in naturalistic tailor-made golf courses based on detailed plans but adjusted to the land and the game of golf in the field by the architect on a daily basis.
