Alvaro Arana was a Member of EIGCA until he retired in 2011.

He played as a member of the Spanish team several times, as a member of the continental team for the St. Andrews Trophy in 1966.

He collaborated with his late uncle Javier Arana in designs so well known and emblematic as: El Saler (Valencia), R.A.C.E. (Madrid), El Prat (Barcelona), Guadalmira, Rio Real and Aloha (Andalucia), La Galea, Neguri (Vizcaya), etc.

His most recent designs and assignments are: Casablanca Golf (Madrid), Oropesa (Toledo), Club de Golf de Aranjuez (Madrid), Balneario de Mondariz (Pontevedra), Menorca, Zuya Golf Club (Alava), Don Tello Club de Golf de Merida (Badajoz), Toledo, Ochando Golf in Sucina (Murcia), a resort (36 holes) called El Rompido in Cartaya (Huelva), ValdecaƱas (Caceres), etc.

Acting as a designer, his large experience has demonstrated he is highly capable to design, direct the construction and keep the blend of the layouts with the existing landscape as a big premise.

His experience too, makes him a known consultant, for the whole golf complex, organizing the golf unit in all his departments, selecting and teaching human teams, machinery equipments, etc.

In a word, the whole consultancy from A to Z, in the start up of a golf course.

Alvaro was a former member of the BIGCA Committee.
