Previously a Quantity Surveyor, Marc has now been in the golf course industry for over 20 years, starting by studying golf course management, followed by a year of golf course construction in America, before joining Hawtree Ltd in 1998, for whom he worked for 14 years.
Marc now heads his own practice, Westenborg Golf Design, and along with a comprehensive list of contacts and consultants, constructors and project managers compiled during the past 20 years, is able to offer the full complement of golf design services.
Marc's most notable accolades include Dun Laoghaire Golf Club in Ireland which won best parkland golf course of the year 2012 and 2014, as well as hosting the 2016 Curtis Cup. He also designed Rockliffe Hall which hosted the English Senior Open 2013 and 2014. Other new builds include Cobh, Carrick-on Shannon and Gorstyhill.
Significant renovation projects include Dooks in Ireland which was a complete 18-hole renovation of greens and bunkers, Cork, Blainroe, Ipswich and Moor Park; all 18-hole bunker renovations.
Internationally, Marc has been involved in renovation and new build projects in China, Brazil, Hong Kong and Zagaleta Golf Club in Spain.
Having also consulted for numerous private members Clubs, many of them designed by the likes of Colt, Mackenzie and Braid, Marc has an in-depth knowledge of all elements of the golf industry always ensuring that renovations and new builds are visually impressive, easily remembered and most importantly, fun to play.
