Ross McMurray is a golf course designer with European Golf Design and a Past-President of the EIGCA. A graduate in Landscape Design at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Ross began his career in 1988 with the golf course architectural practice of Cotton, Pennink and Partners. The company became European Golf Design in 1992.

Ross has designed golf courses throughout Europe and was responsible for the Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor Resort, Wales, created especially for the 2010 Ryder Cup. In the U.K. he was lead designer on The Marquess Course at Woburn Golf & Country Club and in 2019 Ross completed an 18 hole course and 6 hole academy course for Royal Norwich Golf Club which has relocated to a new site.

Ross has worked extensively with some of Europe's finest golfers. With Bernhard Langer he created The Dunes Course at Costa Navarino in Greece, as well as Panoramica Golf & Country Club in Spain. Working with Colin Montgomerie, Ross was responsible for The Dutch, a new tournament course in The Netherlands, Rowallan Castle Golf Course in Scotland and The Montgomerie at Celtic Manor.

Other courses designed by Ross include The Sandy Lyle Course and West Course at Schloss Wilkendorf, Germany, the Schloss Torgelow Course at Fleesensee, Germany, and Ribagolfe 1 and 2 near Lisbon, Portugal. In 2016 Ross completed a major new project at Mill Creek, near Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Ross has also undertaken major redevelopments at several established golf courses, including The Old Course at St. Pierre, Wales and The East Course at Dalmahoy, Scotland. He was also responsible for the upgrades to the Albatros Course at Le Golf National, prior to the 2018 Ryder Cup matches.
