The primary inspiration for his career is shared with the great architect Donald Ross. Both spent their formative golfing years in Dornoch whose magnificent, subtle greens left an indelible impression. This passion for golf plus a lifelong love of landscapes led to a degree in Landscape Architecture, an ideal foundation for a golf architect. His love for links golf grows and is highly influential in his designs. He advises many of the Top 100 clubs in the UK and Ireland and Skibo Castle, one of his designs, was recently voted number 24 in the UK and Ireland.
A former university golfer with a category one handicap, he spent a season caddying on the European Tour and worked as a greenkeeper: invaluable qualifications. He is a partner in Mackenzie & Ebert Ltd.
