Lassi Pekka Tilander extends Kankaisten Golf

EIGCA Associate Member, Lassi Pekka Tilander had added another 9 holes to Kankaisten Golf in South-West Finland.

Over the past few years Kankaisten Golf has been one of the busiest golf courses in Finland. Despite having only a six month-long season they've had more than 35 000 golf rounds each year on their 18 hole course. So a few years ago they decided to build 9 more holes,

The extension work started during the winter of 2015. In the previous summer rough shaping had been made by American John Ponko. This spring and summer the work continued with local finishing experts and at the end of August 2016 almost all the playing areas were ready and seeded.

The course has been mostly built on open, previously agricultural, land. It has a railway line on one side and a rocky forest on the other. Big and multiform bunkers and multi-levelled greens will keep the players awake. The game plan is better to be clear already on the tee box. The ball will be easy to keep in play but good scoring will require talent and experience, especially around the greens.

The new nine holes will be open for play in the summer of 2017.
