Capillary Concrete technology used on legendary Olympic Club Lake Course

Capillary Concrete technology has been used by golf course architect Bill Love to enhanced the look and strategy of the legendary Olympic Club Lake Course in San Francisco, CA.

The work has been carried using scientific principles in preparation for the 2021 US Women’s Open.

When Bill Love and Pat Finlen upgraded the Lake Course in preparation for the 2012 US Open, they wanted to put a premium on precision to defend the classic venue once dubbed “the graveyard of great golfers”.

For the 2021 US Women’s Open, the bunkers have been upgraded with the Capillary Concrete technology to create some impressive hazards that are surprisingly economical to maintain.

Bunker shapes and slopes can now be built with integrated moisture management and sub-surface drip irrigation, practically eliminating wash-outs and ensuring clean and playable sand for decades; and the cost of the sand, labour and product is insured by Lloyd´s of London for a full 5 years!
