In Summer 2020 Golf Architect Pierfrancesco De Simone MEIGCA was approached by the Owners of the Poiano Resort to assess the site where to build an 18 holes golf course. Located in a natural valley created by the erosion of the glacier that created Lake Garda during the last Ice Age.
The site is quite small, considering the modern standards, has a total surface of 38 hectare, but is gifted with a gentle rolling terrain and stunning view across the Lake and the surrounding mountains. The design process brought to a 5000 meters long golf course for a total par 68. The lower section of the site is covered by a small wetland that will be integrated in the design of the golf holes, in order to keep and enhance the environmental diversity of the site.
The landscape is typically Mediterranean, with Olive Trees, Cypress Trees and local other species that cover most of the site. Construction will be undertaken by the Bariselli Company, with Fito Semillas, EIGCA Bronze Partner and Toro, EIGCA Gold Partner involved as suppliers.
