This annual gathering of members, partners and patrons starts on Monday 27th April for Day 1 of the President’s Cup. Played at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club, a links course unusually laid out in two loops of nine, golfers will have stunning views over the Bristol Channel, the Gower Peninsula and the magnificent welsh hills. Affectionately known as ‘P&K’, this Mackenzie Ross course, ranked No. 7 in Wales, has something for everyone, particularly the awesome, breath-taking second 9 holes which will test even the very best golfers.
Day 2 of the President’s Cup will be played on Tuesday 28th at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, the highest ranked course in Wales (also top 25 in Great Britain and Ireland and top 100 in the world www.top100golfcourses.com). This world-class links course has holes facing every point on the compass with sea views from every hole. The course is not only a highlight for every keen golfer, but also an exceptional study subject for any golf course architect. If you have the time, the history-laden clubhouse is worth a visit to study the memorabilia on display.
Delegates at the Annual Meeting will be based at the 5-Star voco St. David’s on Cardiff Bay’s waterfront and will attend the Annual Conference on Wednesday 29th. EIGCA members are invited to attend the EIGCA AGM before the Conference begins. The Partners’ Buffet will be held after play at Royal Porthcawl and the President’s Dinner – a Welsh banquet at Cardiff Castle Cardiff Castle – in the evening after the Conference will bring the Annual Meeting to a close.
Students on the EVQGCD continue in Wales until the weekend as they have two days of lectures after official proceedings come to a close.
EIGCA President, Christoph Staedler, says: "We are looking forward to bringing the golf course architecture profession together in Wales in spring 2020. Our Annual Meeting is always well attended, with over 100 members and partners gathering to learn, network and play. The two courses on which we will play the President’s Cup will challenge all levels of player amongst our party and the conference will be a day of learning and brushing up on our skills, so we are confident there is something for everyone who joins us in Wales."
Further information and registration forms will be sent out by EIGCA head office.
