Gardagolf is one of Italy's most stunning and prestigious golf clubs. With 27 holes set above beautiful Lake Garda, the course has hosted the Italian Open on three occasions, and its condition is second to none in Europe.
Club President Franco Tavelli had this to say: “Gardagolf is one of Italy's most stunning and prestigious golf clubs. With 27 holes set above beautiful Lake Garda, the course has hosted the Italian Open on three occasions, and its condition is second to none in Europe. I’m one of the founders of Gardagolf. Since we established the club, we have set the bar extremely high where course maintenance is concerned. Over the past few years, however, our irrigation system has deteriorated. This has led to some costly repairs, but the results in terms of water distribution were mediocre, with obvious effects on the upkeep of the grounds. Last fall, we decided to make a radical change and asked Acquafert in Cremona to completely refit the system.
Last winter the system was installed on the Red course, and work is currently underway on the White course and two holes of the Yellow course. I have to say that we are very pleased with the way the work is going – last summer the quality of the Red course had already clearly improved. Thanks to Rain Bird’s technology and the excellent project work carried out by our engineer Mr. Massarenti, we now have the ability to adjust water quantities with total precision on every section of the course, at the same time as shortening the irrigation cycle. That’s fundamental for a club like ours which sees a large influx of players from earliest hours of the morning.”
In practice, by the time the system is fully operational, a total of over 1400 Rain Bird series 700 and 751 sprinklers will have been installed to replace the existing Toro models. The old Buckner automation system will be replaced by a Rain Bird IC system which will enable each sprinkler to be individually controlled.
