I have recently been updating the Journal Contents database to make sure all the web links were functional – they now are but please let me know if you find any that no longer work. In the course of this I found myself looking at the USGA website and was reminded of the wealth of information to be found here. So I’ve included an article about it in this newsletter.

USGA Green Section Record changes to Digital format

After being in print under a variety of titles since 1921, the USGA Green Section Record will change to a digital-only format. The new format brings a distinct opportunity to disseminate information to a much larger and more diverse audience, and includes content and features that are possible only in a digital environment. They will continue to provide technical information to the turfgrass industry and will expand subject matter to include course care topics addressed to golfers.

Golf Club Histories

A few years ago the decision was taken to start a collection of golf club histories. The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw the foundation of a great many golf clubs and many of these have been celebrating their centenaries by publishing their history.

New Website for Golf Business News

Golfbusinessnews.com, or ‘GBN’ as many people refer to it, now has a completely new presentation. Not just the obviously new colour-scheme and the presence of pictures and visual aids but a news section which is even better organised than before and which is fully searchable using any word as the ‘key’.

Finding Articles

The bulk of the Newsletter consists of references to articles in the journals received in the Library. Increasingly, many journals are only published online – e-zines – and I have been including these with URLs where you can find the full text.
