There seems to be a plethora of surveys on the golf industry at the moment. Last month we had KPMG's Golf Participation in Europe and one on Women's Golf. UKGCOA Releases First In-Depth Golf Industry Analysis

UKGCOA Golf facility Benchmarking Executive Summary Report

The UK Golf Course Owners Association (UKGCOA) has released its first Golf Facility Benchmarking Report, which shows member clubs have seen a dramatic rise in rounds played throughout 2011.
The report – conducted by Sports Marketing Surveys Inc – shows that UKGCOA members have seen a 20% increase in rounds played compared to the national average of just 8%.

A new survey of golfers has found that the condition of golf greens is the most important factor when it comes to judging how attractive a golf club is. This even beat the cost of membership or green fees into second place in the Syngenta UK Golf Player Survey, which polled over 300 British golfers.

Golf tourism, in its own right, has developed into a successful business, and there are numerous tour operators tailoring their offers to the specific needs of golfers all over the world. Whether as a primary motivation for a holiday or simply as a secondary activity, golf attracts millions of holidaymakers worldwide. According to IAGTO, international golf tourism exceeded 50 million travellers in 2011.


National Tree Safety Group Guidance Launched

Common Sense Risk Management of Trees

After extensive research, consultation and planning, the National Tree Safety Group (NTSG) delivers its guidance on common sense management for tree safety. This guidance has been produced over a period of five years following the commissioning of new research into trees, their benefits, people’s attitudes to risk, extensive consultation on early drafts and considerable effort by the NTSG Drafting Group in drawing together all the various stakeholder views, concerns and priorities expressed by the full NTSG membership.


The Dr Alister MacKenzie Chronology 16th Revision

16th Revision Mackenzie Timeline February 2012

The Dr MacKenzie research team is very pleased to announce that they have completed the 16th Revision of the MacKenzie Chronology, after many, many hours of research and contributions by a number of people. This Revision is considerably advanced over the 15th, with over 400 new entries and a number of previous entries modified or expanded. This revision contains a good deal of timeline information regarding MacKenzie's early years, about his family, as well as his education and WW1 service.
